"Thank You, Rick and Konki, for a Fabulous Parade!"

“Selflessness “...to think less about yourself, and more about others – to be generous and kind.” This describes exactly the actions of Rick and Konki Jarvis when they read that many in the community wanted the Borrego Days Festival Parade back yet no one had stepped up to the plate for this daunting task.

That is until the fearless Konki and her husband, Rick, reflected on having a parade, a patriotic one, where our veterans would be honored for their service to our country. And just like in the story of the Little Engine That Could, these two power-houses pulled the parade together with a handful of faithful volunteers, no experience in parade-organization, dogged determination and a willingness to work their tails off in order to gift our community with a fabulous Parade - one of the best we’ve ever had!

For this, the Borrego Springs Community wishes to share our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Rick and Konki. The Parade brought smiles and cheers from all involved - both in the Parade and those on the sidelines. Folks are still talking about the incredibly professional air show, the festive band, the local flavor of the Parade, the proud horses, the laughter and the absolute joy this Parade brought back to Borrego.

We certainly hope that the Jarvis Duo will return next year with an even larger group of dedicated volunteers and bring back once again the Magic that is our Borrego Days Parade!
