Welcome Back, Students
Last updated 9/3/2024 at 8:14am
Dear Students, Families and Community Members,
We are excited to be starting the 2024 – 25 school year! We have welcomed some new faces, staff and students, at our campuses and we look forward to getting to know them as the year progresses.
We are excited to be able to offer a new full day TK class for students at the elementary school and a counselor!
At the high school we are offering two new CTE (Career Technical Education) pathways for students to complete: Health Sciences and Early Childhood Education.
These are in addition to already existing classes of Digital Media, Digital Photography, Desktop Publishing, Certified Interpretive Hosting, Welding, Auto, and Environment and Utilities. It is our goal in the district to have students complete at least one CTE pathway during high school to give them career skills for their futures.
The Middle School and High School have launched cell phone free campuses during school hours. We have incorporated the use of Yondr pouches with students sealing up their cell phones every morning and unlocking them in the afternoon. After a few weeks staff are already noticing increased engagement of students and it is great walking around campus seeing students talking with each other and not on their phones.
After two years of Planning, the District is now in the Implementation phase of a Community Schools Partnership Program. In a supportive and collaborative community such as Borrego Springs, the Community Schools Model is an ideal fit. Working with the four pillars of the Model: Integrated support services; Family and community engagement;
Collaborative leadership and practices for educators and administrators; and Extended learning time and opportunities, BSUSD welcomes building partnerships and relationships with families, community members and local organizations and agencies to support the children and families of this community.
Families and Community Members, we are always looking for support in volunteers for our classrooms. Some of the most successful classrooms I have seen and worked in come from the help of volunteers donating an hour or more a week in a dedicated classroom. Please if you have time, many of our elementary classrooms need volunteers to work with students. The elementary school also welcomes volunteers in the Everyone’s a Reader Program, to read with 1st-3rd grade students. Please stop by any school office to pick up a volunteer form, our students need everyone’s help!
As always, let’s embrace our PRIDE values to guide us through the year. With Perseverance, we’ll tackle obstacles and keep pushing forward, knowing that hard work pays off. By demonstrating Respect, we’ll foster a supportive and positive environment for everyone in our community. Upholding Integrity will ensure that we act honestly and ethically in all our endeavors. Through Discipline, we’ll stay focused and committed to our goals, balancing our responsibilities and ambitions. And with Empathy, we’ll build stronger connections by understanding and supporting one another.
Let’s have a great year everyone!
Sincerely, Mrs. Baay
