Borrego Springs added another feat to the record books, recording a scorching 120 degrees on July 8. This surpasses the previous record of 117 degrees, that was set back in 1976.

An excessive heat warning was placed for the desert and inland valley communities, as temperatures were expected to continue at a dangerously high number.
