Rotary Fundraiser Hits New High
Once Again, Borrego Comes Through

The Borrego Springs Rotary Club held its annual fundraiser on Saturday, March 24, at the Roadrunner Club. What was supposed to be an outdoor dance under the stars at the DreamWeaver Amphitheater, turned out to be an indoor event due to inclement weather and the quick thinking of Daniel Wright and Rich Pinel. Rotary thanks them!
With the band, Natural Selection, rocking the house, folks enjoyed wine donated by Borrego Outfitters and scrumptious tacos from Fabiola’s Taco Truck. Live auction items included a Stay and Play from La Casa and Rams Hill, dinner for 10 at Carlees, lunch and an off-road Jeep ride through the Badlands with Rotarians, Sylvana and Martha, as well as a stay in a Springs’ Tiny House. We were honored with the presence of Rotary District Governor Don Fipps and his wife, Donna, as well as District Governor Nominee Luis Carranza, all from San Diego.
During the live auction and later the paddle raise, money poured in to support the many causes of Rotary: scholarships for college bound seniors, BASIC, the Children’s Center, Senior Center, Little League, Ernie Loza’s Slab City Ministries, Holiday Toy Drive and much more! Once more the amazing generosity of our community came shining through. Major donors included:
Sandra A.Hansberger Foundation
David Barr and Sandra Hansberger
Daniel and Nancy Wright
Bruce Kelley and Ellen Gavin
Anne and Jim Wermers, BVEF Donor Advised Fund
Rams Hill
Rotary would like to thank all who attended and contributed to our Service Club. At last count, our fundraiser had brought in $36,000 and there was still more to count!
