Mongolia and Borrego Springs Partners Again

On a Zoom call with San Diego County Supervisor (District 5) Jim Desmond on March 25, Borrego Springs Honorary Mayor Daniel Wright and E. Khatanbaatar, the Council Rep from Bayanzurkh District, Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between our two regions of the world. With a delegation of nine Mongolians present along with Jim and Ann Wermers, Nancy Wright and Martha Deicher, smiles and applause filled the room.
Borrego Springs has long enjoyed a partnership with Mongolia, dating back over 10 years when former Park Superintendent Mark Jorgensen visited Ikh Nart Nature Reserve and began a long and fruitful friendship between the two parks.
This friendship has grown into other partnerships with Khovd, Mongolia, and now Bayanzurkh District. We hope to continue cross-cultural exchanges to include art, education, business and travel.....bringing the world together two communities at a time.
