Crash Claims A Life

One person is dead and six others were injured on March 22 in a four-vehicle crash.

The incident occurred around 8:47 p.m. on State Route Highway 78 and Borrego Springs Road, according to California Highway Patrol.

Three motorcyclists and one vehicle were involved in the crash, Cal Fire San Diego confirmed.

Emergency responders airlifted one patient in moderate condition to Desert Regional Medical Center, while one teenager with minor injuries was transported by ground ambulance. Four patients have been treated and released, officials said, while one person died.

California Highway Patrol shut down all lanes of SR-78 so first responders could to land an air ambulance and to further assess the scene of the accident.

No further details, such as names or ages of those involved were immediately provided.

At this time, the cause of the collision is under investigation.
