Affectionately known as "Father Joe," Joe "Pogy" Pogorelc, was born in Lorain, Ohio on August 30, 1931.

The last of six boys, he was a former seminarian, Korean Conflict Vet, College Football All-Star & MVP, and NFL draft pick for the 49ers. He worked in the steel mills until joining the Airforce. After Korea, he was offered a full scholarship to NW Oklahoma, where he played four years of football. He was also a retired Revlon Cosmetics salesman, where he was top salesman seven years in a row, military broker, baseball/football official, golfer, volunteer.

Joe was the consummate optimist and was always smiling. His true passion was golf which he played as often as he was able. He spent the last few summers on the Yaak River in Montana. He loved the river, fishing, off-roading and floating. He enjoyed all the critters that would come to visit and kept careful notes on "who" was "who", especially the gray wolf with yellow eyes.

Father of Scott, J.C., Teri and Dana Pineda. Grandfather of Sean, James, Ashley and great grandfather of Symphony and Amariana. He is survived by his extended family and his many friends from Texas, Oklahoma, California, Ohio and Montana, as well as his long-time partner, Sandra, and his faithful dog Tattoo.

Goodbye Joe

Rest in Peace

We all LOVE YOU
