BASIC Begins

Summer learning has begun at BASIC’s 7th annual Learning Academy! From July 6 through August 2, 41 Borrego Springs students, ranging from 2nd to 8th graders, will receive an educational boost before beginning school in the fall. Headmaster Tim White leads a team of four teachers and four aides. The four classes being taught focus on reading, writing, and math are held at the UCI Steele/Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center. Students are selected annually by school administrators and BASIC members based on their need and our availability. Although we are at capacity this year, a waitlist is maintained.
