"Borrego's Secret"

We came to Borrego over the weekend to see the flowers. It was jammed pack when we got to Christmas Circle, and had a hard time finding a place to park.

The sun was beginning to set, so we went to find a place to eat. Carlee’s was full and we did not really want to wait too long for a table, so we went over to the Red Ocotillo, but again, it was the same, full. But we saw a sign at the Circle advertising The Propeller Bar and Grill, so we thought, “Let’s try it!”

Compared to the town, it was nice and quiet. We headed on inside, not too crowded and saw a few tables open, what luck! There was a piano player performing and it was an overall great atmosphere.

We went over to the bar, and wow, what a view, it was tremendous looking at the mountains while a small plane landed. It was pretty special.

We had ordered a couple of margaritas and just amazing, had to be one of the best we’ve had. Learned that the barman had worked in Mexico, so he knew how to make a great margarita.

The Chef, Sally, stopped by to greet us and told us the menu and a few specials, and we went with what she had suggested. My wife had the salmon, while I decided on the chicken piccata. Delicious meal. We also ordered a couple of glasses of wine, which were just excellent. The ambiance was certainly fabulous. It was all perfect.

The Propeller Bar & Grill is a great find in Borrego Springs. We will come again next year, and we really hope the Propeller doesn’t change. Thank you for the great food and service.
