It was the Borrego Girls Weekend once again, celebrating their 17th Annual Golf Tournament, after a hiatus last year because of COVID.

Caroline Haines has organized the Borrego Girls Weekend (BGW), an annual golf retreat and social event for women that happens yearly on the President's Day Weekend. The BGW is the legacy of Haines' previous philanthropic work. For over 30 years, Haines organized golf tournaments in Palm Springs that raised over $500,000 in donations for various charities.

Migrating from Palm Springs to Borrego Springs was a natural choice for the event, as Haines had friends and family in town, and of course, the staggering natural beauty doesn't hurt.

This year, they played at The Springs at Borrego RV Resort Golf Course and the De Anza Desert Club. At De Anza, they were supported by cheerleaders serving them beverages between holes.

From the moment they hit town, the group was in party mode, staying at La Casa Del Zorro and The Palms at Indian Head Hotel, hitting the bars in town – they are a wild bunch.

Caroline Haines, the organizers told the Borrego Sun, "With the beautiful weather, gorgeous golf courses, delicious meals, beverages and most of all camaraderie with these ladies that I haven't seen since pre-COVID, it was nice to get out and spend a normal life again."

Haines said she would like to thank Cindy Wood and the staff at the Coyote Steakhouse and General Manager Ramien Shalizi at De Anza Desert Club, for making great dinners, and making them feel so welcomed.

She finished by saying, "A great time was had by all, one of the best year's ever based on all the compliments of the girls."
