"Students Appreciate Community Support"

I have had the privilege of being a part of BASIC for many years. We have always been so appreciative of the wonderful support that we have received from our community.
Our golf tournament and Circle of Art have assisted us in providing hundreds and thousands of dollars to support the students of Borrego and their success. Through our cradle to graduation program we are able to provide a book a month for every child under the age of six through the Dolly Parton imagination library. Our month long summer learning academy has assisted us in providing support to many of our students who need that extra leg up and our scholarships for graduates provide support for students going into the trades or on to college.
Our students have always been appreciative of our support, however recently we received a letter from one of our graduates who is a junior at Humboldt State and his letter touched my heart. With his permission I am sharing it. It read, “Thank you for your tireless efforts to help the community and the love you spread even through a pandemic! I appreciate you. I value your hard work and I see your efforts. I hope this letter is but a fraction of what you receive. Sending love and blessings to all BASIC staff and your families too. Thank you for everything. With love and appreciation, Eddie Rivera.”
I hope this letter lets all of the people of Borrego Springs realize that supporting BASIC is truly a gift of love from our community to our most important asset, our children, our future!
