Heroin, Fentanyl Seized

Border Patrol agents seized nearly three pounds of heroin and fentanyl at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint near Salton City, Feb. 13.

At around 10:20 a.m., a 19 year-old-man approached the checkpoint as one of the multiple people in a private taxi.

During the secondary inspection, Border Patrol agents discovered packages on the man.

It was determined that the pack-ages contained heroin and fentanyl combined had an estimated street value of $43,600, according to U.S Customs and Border Protection.

The suspect was found to be a United States citizen and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
