Borrego Gears of Up for Taste of Borrego 2020

Once again, it’s time for Borrego’s best party! And it’s going to be better than ever! The 9th annual Rotary Taste of Borrego will be on Sunday Jan. 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the de Anza Ballroom of the historic Casa del Zorro Desert Resort. Borrego’s finest restaurants will showcase favorite recipes and sneak in some new creations. The result will be a feast for all who attend, and Borrego Springs will benefit because Rotary donates the proceeds from the Taste back to the community. Remember two years ago we raised half the money for a new school bus. It’s a win, win!
The format for the evening: Borrego’s leading restaurants offers up tasty bites. Wine flows freely. Awards are given. Guests vote for their favorite restaurant “People’s Choice”, and a panel of chefs and celebrities vote for the “Professional Choice.” While votes are tallied, guests are entertained with a raffle and a live auction featuring vacation packages, art, dinner parties and much more.
“Many people don’t realize it, but Borrego Springs Rotary is an important contributor to many community and educational programs in the Borrego Valley,” says Dick Norquist, Rotary President. “Our annual giving budget counts on The Taste to provide the funds needed for these important community activities.”
“We’re fortunate that our community is so generous in making the Taste a success,” says Donna Nourse, Event Chair. “The Restaurants donate their food and labor, other businesses provide support through raffle and auction prizes, and our Guests each contribute $90 per person, for which they receive a delicious meal and enjoy a fun evening, in addition to supporting the Borrego Community. We are grateful to them all!”
Participating Restaurant Contestants this year include The Butterfield Room at La Casa del Zorro, Ram’s Hill Restaurant, Carlee’s Place, de Anza Country Club, The Arches at Borrego Springs Resort, Carmelita’s Mexican Grill and we’ll get a preview from The Propeller at the Airport. Borrego Outfitters will provide wine and Kesling’s Kitchen will provide appetizers. Numerous other businesses and individuals will contribute items for the raffle and auction.
Tickets for the 2020 Taste of Borrego Gala are $90 and are available at Borrego Outfitters and Coldwell Banker, or from your Rotarian friends. Buy yours early, tickets are limited!
