The incident occurred when two students were involved in an altercation for reasons still unknown, when one student used a knife to assault the other student, which resulted in a non-life threatening injury.

The school was placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of all students and staff. It did not pose a threat to the wider school community.

The student was detained by law enforcement.

West Shores High resumed classes as usual Friday Nov. 8. The CVUSD also sent a crisis counseling team to the West Shores Campus to support students or staff in need.

The incident is still currently under investigation by the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department.
