Teacher's Pet! (It's the Fox)

It's amazing what a cute little fuzzy stuffed fox can do for a community when you combine it with the generosity of La Casa del Zorro Resort.

That's what happened last week when LCDZ General Manager Patrick Sampson invited all 24 Borrego Springs teachers to a reception in their honor, complete with scrumptious hors d'oeuvres and cool beverages of their choice. New as well, as veteran teachers were all amazed at the kindness shown to them by La Casa del Zorro.

As if that wasn't enough, Sampson then stood up with a handful of envelopes all individually labeled and commenced to thank teachers for their hard work, which often goes unappreciated.

He also addressed the fact that teachers spend hundreds of dollars out of their own pockets for school supplies each year to make their classrooms and teaching come alive.

With those words of appreciation, Sampson then presented each teacher with a generous personal check to be used however she/he feels appropriate. Mouths gaped and whispers of shock resounded throughout the Fox Den. Teachers are not used to being treated with such kindness and benevolence. Talk about a room full of happy folks!

So what do those cute fuzzy foxes have to do with this lovely teacher appreciation event?

Samspson explained how in each room at La Casa del Zorro, there is a darling stuffed fox mascot sitting on the dresser. It is for sale of course, and the funds this little guy brings in yearly grows and grows and 100% of the net proceeds of the Fox sales are distributed to Borrego Springs based charities and deserving community endeavors.

The Teacher Appreciation Evening was chosen to be this deserving endeavor by Sampson and his crew.

Teachers are not supposed to have a Teacher's Pet and if they do, it should never be obvious. But in this case, if you ask any Borrego Springs Teacher, "What's your favorite animal?" and the response you'll hear will be, "The Fox."

Thank you La Casa del Zorro, for your generosity and hospitality.
