At the event, you will be able to meet the animal ambassadors including Boo the Barn Owl, Huxley the Harris Hawk, snakes and lizards, Project Wildlife’s screech owl, and the Canid Center’s domesticated foxes, among others.

There are over 35 exhibitors with hands on environmental activities and “touch” tables, demonstrations on building animal safety pens with the Julian Mountain Lion Project, Park Rangers and local outdoor guides to engage you on the many resources for hiking, star gazing and outdoor enjoyment for every age. Photograph your family in the Wildlife Research Institute’s replica full size eagle’s nest, complete with eaglet puppets.

Many more wonderful exhibitors will be there to welcome you to Julian Natural Wonderfest, including nightscape photographers that will amaze you with photos of the dark sky that envelopes all of us in the Julian area.

The stage events will get you singing and dancing, and will present speakers who will share their love of Julian’s natural habitat, and our remarkable dark skies, with you.

The Kids’ Corner is particularly fun for the kids – scavenger hunt, music and games, a face painter, and great interactive events sponsored by the Julian Branch Library.

There is even have a food truck at the event this year.

As night falls, the subdued ground lighting and glow-in-the-dark bracelets and necklaces will provide color and a beautiful setting as our astronomers from Julian Dark Sky Network and Curiosity Peak, take you on a magical tour through the Milky Way.

Local organizers include Julian Dark Sky Network, Volcan Mountain Foundation, Julian Woman’s Club, Wildlife Research Institute and County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation. The volunteers from these organizations are happy to share their love of animals, the environment, and dark skies with you.

Make great memories and experience Julian’s natural wonders by day and by night!
