The Julian Quilt Show, put on by the Julian Woman's Club, has been going on since the 80's, and is enjoyed by many each year.

This year, the show ran from June 30 through July 4, held in the Julian Town Hall, supported by the Chamber of Commerce.

The quilt show exhibits antique, art and contemporary quilts made by experts and beginning quilters of all ages. Featured quilts are made by world-renowned quilter Eleanor Burns and a quilt made by Woman's Club members under Eleanor's supervision is raffled off.

Money is raised through the quilt raffle and by selling quilts and boutique items hand-made by members. Proceeds go toward the local community and high school scholarships.

Once again, I had the chance to attend the quilt show, giving all the men that are forced to attend with their wives and or girlfriends a fighting chance to not do anything too stupid. By now you should know that quilts are not to be confused with horse blankets, or furniture pads.

Attendees had the chance to vote for the winners. This year's first place winner was Ann Boykin, second place went to Linda Kerridge, and third place was Olive Kerr.

Other participants of the quilt show included – Lynn Barbee, Mary Lou Jones, Shirly Jones, Sharon Elliot, Terri Groth, Lorna Arries, Pat Landis, Susan Carter, Colleen Manzer, and of course, none other than Eleanor Burns. I hope I got everyone.

No animals were hurt or injured in this event, and hopefully no men did anything stupid.
