Volunteers Needed at Borrego Elementary

Fellow Borregans! Borrego Springs Elementary needs your help!

The class sizes in first, second and third grades are quite large this year and the teachers have their hands full. Overcrowding makes it difficult for teachers to attend to all level of learners.

I volunteered for six years, and fell in love with helping the students. It is both a privilege and a fulfilling, rewarding experience. You make a difference when you earn the love of a child. I knew this was true when a 5th grader wrote me a letter that said “Geege, you changed my life!”

It’s important that we send a clear message to the community that we consider public education a worthy cause.

Everyone A Reader is a program by the County of San Diego where we train volunteers to read to the kids once a week, and these kids read to other adults twice a week for extra practice, but we need the volunteers!

Help is also needed within the classroom and supervision with the little ones in pre-K and kindergarten.

For more information, please contact Borrego Springs elementary school principal Sherrilynn Polanco at spolanco@bsusd.net or call 760-767-5334.
