Motorcyle Crash Sparks Fire Near Warner Springs

A traffic collision sparked a fire in Warner Springs, which closed state Route 79, Nov. 5.

Units responded to the incident just a little after 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fink Road and Route 79, after a truck had collided with a motorcycle, according to Cal Fire San Diego Public Information Officer Issac Sanchez.

Two people were involved, and taken to a nearby hospital. The state of the individuals have not been released.

The collision had sparked several small spot fires, which grew to between one and one-and-a-half acres at around 1:33 p.m., Sanchez said.

Crews were able to put it out quick, and were on the scene for several hours.

A Sig Alert was issued for the areas. State Route 79 was shut down at around 1:50 p.m. One lane was re-opened at approximately 5:00 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
