Wilson Fire Burns 25 Acres

In the midst of warm temperatures, a brush fire engulfed about 25 acres in the Warner Springs/Ranchita area, which was caused by a shooting, according to Cal Fire officials.
Units responded to the fire that broke out near Wilson Road, off of Montezuma Valley Road at around 1:15 p.m. Sunday Oct. 15.
At around 4:20 p.m., the fire was estimated at 25 acres, and 40 percent containment, spreading at a moderate rate of speed, officials said. Firefighters on the ground and crews in the air managed to stop the fire's rate of spread.
Residents were told by the San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies to evacuate.
The fire was sparked by target shootings, according to Cal Fire. The cause is under criminal investigation, as officials search for the suspects.
No injuries or threats to structures were reported.
At around 12:36 p.m. Monday Oct. 16, the fire was 70 percent contained.
The fire was fully contained at about 7:30 p.m., and a final total of 25 acres.
