A series of modest-sized brush fires broke out for an unknown reason Monday Sept. 18, taking ground and airborne crews to put them out.
The first fire began at around 3:30 p.m. near state Route 79 in the Sunshine Summit area, just northwest of Warner Springs, according to Cal Fire San Diego. Crews, ground and air, were able to have that fire under control a little before 5 p.m.
Later, another fire began between Woodridge Lane and Chihuahua Valley Road, which burned five acres. No structures were threatened by the fire.
The fires burned a total of 16 acres and took about two days to completely put the blaze out.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported. It is still under investigation on what had sparked the fires.
