Construction work requiring a full closure on State Route 78 (SR-78) between Indian Oaks Road and Weekend Villa Road in Ramona is set to begin June 9 at 9:00 p.m., and is scheduled to end June 19 at 5:00 a.m.

The closure is needed to allow crews to reconstruct a section of the highway to stabilize the downhill slope on the north side.

The detour extends from Cloverdale Road/San Pasqual Road to Main Street/State Route 67 (SR-67). Eastbound motorists are detoured south on Cloverdale Road/San Pasqual Road, south on Bear Valley Parkway/Via Rancho Parkway, south on Interstate 15, east on Scripps Poway Parkway and north on SR-67 to SR-78. Westbound motorists follow the same detour in the opposite direction.

There will be no access through the construction zone, however motorists may travel on either side of the closure.

Caltrans added that congestion and traffic delays on SR-67 are to be expected during the closure. Travel between Weekend Villa Road and SR-67/Main Street in Ramona will not be impacted.
