Pick-up Truck causes Power Loss

Santa Ysabel residets were among nearly 1,560 San Diego Gas & Electric customers left without power Tuesday, May 2 following a ftraffic accident on West Old Julian Highway, just west of Third Street, according to reports.

A pickup truck being driven by hit a power pole being driven by a 60-year-old Ramona woman just before 6.00 a.m. The driver, who was traveling about 35 mph in the 45 mph-hour speed limit zone, told the California Highway Patrol she had been distracted by a flying insect in her truck when her 2011 Chevy 2500 pickup truck ran off the road and hit the pole, said CHP Public Information Officer Kevin Pearlstein. No injuries were reported however a witness did report a small explosion prior to the loss of power.
