Duncan Hunter under Criminal Investigation

The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation of District 50 congressional representative, Republican Duncan Hunter, over campaign violations according to the House Ethics Committee. The committee has set aside its own ethics violation inquiry in light of the criminal investigation.
The violations include diverting campaign funds for personal use - groceries and outdoor equipment, a dentist, a nail salon and a utility company, as well as on a hotel in Italy and at the Arizona Grand Resort. Even though Hunter repaid $60,000 to the campaign, the House Ethics Committee still began their formal inquiry, but has now stopped to give the Justice Department room to conduct their own investigation.
