It was just another beautiful day in Borrego, this one, ideal for a golf tournament to help raise funds for the Senior Center. Using a combination of entry and chip-in fees, hole sponsors, beverages (including spiked coffee), a ticket raffle, and finally a silent auction, the RoadRunner Club raised $14,438 dollars on Tuesday, Feb 21 to benefit the Senior Center. Thousands of meals per year are provided free to Borregan seniors, and the Center also provides recreational and other activities and services.

Highlights of the golf tourney included Christie Stevens, playing with this reporter in one of 21 foursomes using a Scramble format (best ball all the way to the hole), who drove the green and followed by sinking her 20-foot putt. It helped our team to a 4-birdie, 2nd place tie.

It was all about bragging rights, because all winnings went back into the pot for the Senior Center (see photo). Center Director Lynn Vasquez was thrilled to get the voucher, presented by event co-chairs Dick Nason and Carol MacDougall. The fundraising total was only several hundred dollars short of last year's record haul for the Center from the RRC.
