Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit died Mon, Dec. 27, at his home in Bermuda Dunes, according to his office.

Benoit, 64, died following a weeks long battle with pancreatic cancer, according to Michelle DeArmond, his chief of staff, with his wife and daughter at his side.

Having ended his political career. that lasted nearly two decades, the former California Highway Patrol officer had been sent home from Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage.
