Warner Springs - Fatal Car Crash

A single-vehicle crash the night of Fri. Nov 4, in Warner Springs killed one person and injured three others, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported about 8 p.m. on state Route 79 just north of Camino San Ignacio, according to CHP Officer Mary Bailey.

The Hyundai Elantra was speeding when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road and veered onto the shoulder, striking a fence and a tree, causing the car to roll several times. Three of the four occupants were ejected from the car. The driver, a 26-year-old Escondido man who is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, died, according to CHP. His name has not yet been released.

Three other Escondido men in their early 20s were flown to a hospital reported Cal Fire Capt. Isaac Sanchez.

The northbound lane of Route 79 was shut down during the investigation until about 11:45 p.m.
