School Board Meeting

The Borrego Springs Unified School District (BSUSD) Board of Directors met on Nov. 9 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
Arie Korporaal, who won a seat on the Borrego Springs Unified District Governing Board the day before, started off the meeting recognizing achievements in the elementary and middle/high school.
Elementary student of the month include: kindergarten, Alice Lopez and Gianna Ledezma; first grade, Daniel Borron; third grade, Emma Hernandez; fourth grade, Anthony Thompson; fifth grade, Damian Cortez and Lila Linares.
Middle and high school students of the month included: sixth grade, Melissa Barron; seventh grade, Steven Osuna; eighth grade, Daniella Carmona; ninth grade, Juan Fuerte; tenth grade, Vanessa Rodarte; eleventh grade, Mariana Arias and in twelfth grade, Luis Vilches.
The school librarian, Kaitlen Caruso, reports the school will be partnering with the Borrego Spring Public Library to bring a teen program to the school. Many of the students are interested in going to the library after school, however transportation can be a challenge. Bringing library resources to the school will give those student access to new learning opportunities.
The next regular scheduled board meeting will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 5:00 p.m. in the high school community room.
