There were a few Tricks in this Treat
The Ocean View Christian Academy Patriots took the long bus trip to Borrego for our Rams final home game of the 2016 season.
Ocean View returned Juan Carmona’s deep opening kick back to their own 33 yard line. 9 plays later, capped off by a 48 yard run by QB Dylan Loewenthal, the Patriots were in the Rams’ endzone. Their 2 point conversion failed.
Borrego 0, Ocean View 6.
The Rams were playing a little flat and ended up punting the ball down to the Patriots’ 2.
The Patriots went 3 and out with their punt trickling out to their own 20 yard line.
Senior Alex Morris started the Rams’ stampede with a hard fought 4 yard gain. Little brother Andrew picked up 14 yards and Jesus Ornelas snuck around the right end for the Rams first touchdown. Juan Carmona’s kick was true.

The Rams defense was charging hard and the Patriots went 4 and out.
The Rams had a good starting position at midfield. The interior line was flagged for holding, but Jesus found some running room and picked up 13 on his own. He found Alex open down field and fed him a perfect spiral for a 37 yard touchdown. Juan’s kick was good.

The Patriots went 4 and out as the 1st quarter came to a close.
Opening the 2nd quarter, Jesus connected with Andrew for 40 yards and another Rams touchdown. Juan’s kick was wide.

Carmona’s kick went deep and the Patriots just could not move the ball against 8 angry Rams. Alexsys Padilla sealed the deal on the Patriot’s 4th down when he slammed an unfortunate Patriot out of bounds at Ocean View’s own 29.
Alex picked up 7 yards with a bad ankle. On the next snap, Jesus handed off to Andrew sweeping right, handing off to Alexsys coming around from the other end, who pulled up short of the line of scrimmage and fired a pass to Jesus, all alone in the endzone. Touchdown, Rams! Juan’s kick flew true.

The Patriots fell on Juan’s squib kick at their own 35 and started out with decent field position. The Patriots were driving down field stepped when Alexsys picked off an errant Patriots pass and returned it 36 yards to the Patriots 21.
Jesus’ first pass fell incomplete in the Patriots endzone. The Patriots defense was chasing Jesus all over the field when he found Andrew all alone at the 6. On the ensuing 1st down, Andrew worked his way into the endzone for another Rams’ touchdown. Juan’s PAT was good.

The Rams defense was stampeding with Andrew, Oscar Fuentes and Abraham Vega shutting the Patriots offense down.
Our Rams took over the ball at their own 30 with less than 2 minutes left in the half. Andrew looked trapped deep in the Rams backfield when he found a crease and escaped for a 33 yard pickup. Coach White brought the “Jumbo” package in and Adan Delgadillo, Victor Arias and Jesus made the remaining 37 yards disappear. Touchdown Rams. On the extra point try, the melee in the endzone ended up with a 2 point conversion for our Rams.
At the half, Borrego 42, Ocean View 6.
The 2nd half saw Sam Moore come in as quarterback, Juan Carmona move over to RB and Jonathon Palacio, Carlos Garcia playing on both sides of the ball.
False starts and illegal motion penalties doomed the Rams first series, but they did trim 8 minutes off the clock.
Ocean View was moving down the field when Carlito picked off a Patriots pass at then Rams 14. The 3rd quarter ended with a 2 yard pick up by Jonathon.
The final quarter started off with Sam, Jonathon and Carlito moving the ball 45 yards downfield, but the offense stalled and the Rams punted away to the Ocean View 9 with 2:47 left in the game.
Ocean View was done. And so was the game.
Final score, Borrego 42, Ocean View 6.
