The Crusaders Trim the Herd

Our Rams traveled to Connors Park in San Marcos for their last non-conference football game of the 2016 season.
The game started off with the opening kick off being returned for 73 yards by Alex Morris for the Rams first touchdown. The 2 point conversion failed.
Borrego 6, St. Josephs 0.
The Crusaders took scrambles for 26 yards in 3 plays, capping it off with a 42 yard touchdown run. Their 2 pt conversion was good.
Borrego 6, St. Josephs 8.
Our Rams second possession made 2 1st downs but they ended up punting the ball down to the Saint Joseph’s 4. The Crusaders’ returner scooped up the ball and ran untouched for a 96 yard touchdown. Their 2 pt conversion was good.
Borrego 6, St. Josephs 16.
The Rams started on their own 23. QB Jesus Ornelas picked up 9 yards followed by a quick 4 yards by Andrew Morris. Alex Morris capped of the drive with a 64 yard touchdown run. The Rams 2 point conversion failed.
Borrego 12, St, Josephs 16.
St Josephs ate up the clock and yardage to arrive at Borrego’s 1 as the clock ran out on the 1st Quarter.
St. Josephs opened the 2nd Quarter with a 1 yard dive for a touchdown. Their 2 point conversion was good.
Borrego 12, St. Josephs 24.
Juan Carmona got a good return on the Crusaders kick and the Rams were moving. Unfortunately, a Crusaders defender made a pick on an Ornelas pass and returned the rock for another Crusader touchdown. Their conversion failed.
Borrego 12, St. Josephs 30.
The Rams next possession went 3 and out and their punt was blocked and recovered on the Rams 39.
The Crusaders took 4 downs to score their next TD. The 2 point conversion was good.
Borrego 12, St Josephs 38.
The Rams got a good return to the Crusaders 46. Jesus and Alex moved the Rams down the field with several major flags on the Crusaders and Jesus barreled into the endzone for the Rams touchdown. The Rams kick attempt failed.
Borrego 18, St. Josephs 38.
The Crusaders possession was cut short with a booming hit and fumble recovered by LB Abraham Vega.
Both teams traded 3 and outs as the 2nsd Quarter came to an end.
At the Half, Borrego 18 St. Josephs 38.
St. Josephs worked their way downfield for a touchdown on their 1st possession of the 2nd half. Their conversion attempt failed.
Borrego 18, St Josephs 44.
The Rams next possession went 4 and out. The St Josephs back was drilled deep in his own backfield and Alex scooped and scored from 71 yards out.
The Rams conversion failed.
Borrego 24, St. Josephs 44.
Both teams opened the 4th Quarter going 4 and out, twice.
The Rams got a good return by Andrew Morris and proceeded on a 54 yard drive for their final touchdown of the night. The conversion failed.
Borrego 30, St Josephs 44.
The final score of the evening was on a short Rams kickoff that was returned for a 55 yard TD.
