Borrego Sun - Since 1949

Opened by Senator Joel Anderson and only closing when de Anza finally shut up the bar, Borrego Days has finished for another year.

When I caught up with Sen. Anderson before his opening speech, he was relaxing at the grandstand and enjoying the atmosphere. "I come as often as I can" he stated, "the whole community turns out. A lot of parades in my district are sparsely attended, Borrego Days, everyone turns up and it's a one stop shop."

Sen. Anderson was happy to talk and shake the hand of everyone wanting to come up to him. Using his own motto 'make government work for you' as a guide, he was keen to talk to as many people as possible and answer any queries people had.

Having come to town with the Boy Scouts a lot and then later on with his wife, Sen. Anderson stated "It's the biggest little secret in the whole state and when they come out here once, they're going to get hooked. It's the warmth of the community and the desert beauty. There's nothing negative in Borrego."

Now that the circle is back to it's former beauty and the stands have been dismantled, it's sad to see the visitors depart.

Joe & Renee Adan who stayed at the Stanlunds Inn this weekend for Borrego Days, said "This was the best Borrego Days we've been to and we have been attending for years!"

The Adan family sent in the picture of Indian Head relaxing after the festivities. We hope to see everyone again soon and thank you to the Chamber of Commerce, Linda Haddock and all of the volunteers.
