Our Rams Dealt an Ugly Loss in Escondido

After a brief respite after the earlier matinee, our Rams Varsity took on the Crusaders varsity as the sun set.
Calvin took the opening kick, but could not connect the dots and the ball went over to our Rams on downs.
Jesus Ornelas used his legs for 2 first downs and a long pass to Alex Morris for the first score of the game. The 2 point attempt failed.
2 minutes out of the First quarter, Borrego 6, Calvin Christian 0.
The Crusaders gathered themselves and marched 47 yards for their first score of the evening. Their 2 point conversion was good.

The Rams second possession went 3 and out.
After a short Borrego punt, the Crusaders went 39 yards on 4 plays for their second TD of the night. Their 2 point conversion was good.

Our Rams went 3 and out with a short punt to their own 34. Calvin only took 2 plays to put their next score on the scoreboard. Their extra point flew true.

The Rams were on the move when Andrew Morris broke a 34 yard return on the Crusaders kickoff, but our Rams could get no further up to the end of the First Quarter.

The Rams opened the Second Quarter with 2 dropped passes and the ball went over to Calvin on downs.
Calvin took 3 minutes to march 65 yards for another score. Their extra point kick was good.

Our Rams were moving again on the legs of Andrew, Jesus and Alex, but they fell short and the ball went over to Calvin on downs.
Calvin wasted no time and completed a 55 yard pass and run for another Crusader touchdown. Their kick flew true.

The Rams went 3 and out. Calvin took 3 plays to move the ball 40 yards for another touchdown. Their extra point was good.

The Rams could generate no yardage as the First Half mercifully came to and end.
Because of the score, the Second Half was played under a running clock.
Borrego took the deep opening kick and Alex got a good 32 yard return. Alex and Andrew picked up another 37 yards during the series, but the Rams could not pick up a first down.
The Crusaders took 4 plays and picked up the last score of the game. Again, their extra point lick was good.

The last quarter passed with no scoring by either team.
Our Rams will regroup this weekend and work out the kinks and chinks. They take on the Foothill Christian Knights at 7:00 PM on the Junior Field at 9009 Park Plaza Dr. in La Mesa.
