Get out! Get out! GET OUTSIDE!!!
It is cool and calm and clear. Simply gorgeous, so let’s enjoy every minute. Also, don’t miss the sunsets. Lovely glowing rosy light against our tall, tall mountains. And the full Harvest Moon, for those of you who are still summering, was really spectacular – for quite a few nights.
ABDNHA will be starting their bird walks in October. Always an interesting morning activity. Birds around here are eating like crazy. How do they find the seed containers? Smell?
Where is Hal Cohen when I need him? I have a visiting large bird – first thought it was a kestrel, now think it’s a peregrine falcon. But maybe a Cooper’s hawk? Maybe I should just stick to watching the birds outside the Center Market. Have you seen or heard them? Beautiful songs.
Fake.
A wonderful new trail has opened near Rancho Penasquitos in the Black Mountain Open Space Park. Named for Jas Arnold, who spent eight years lobbying for it but died in May, it is just 1/5th of a mile long, but flat and wide to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices. We should probably do something like that on a trail out here. It’s covered with decomposed granite and has a couple of shade structures and benches, as well as information about plants and birds. Nice.
