Geothermal Companies - Incentive to Employ

Gov. Jerry Brown has signed Senate Bill 1074, which was authored by Sen. Ben Hueso. The bill, specifically expands the eligible uses of funds in the Geothermal Resources Development Account, to include projects to recover lithium, metals, agricultural products and other beneficial minerals from highly mineralized geothermal brines at an existing geothermal facility.
The bill could be good news for existing projects in the Salton Sea and the communities that surround it, as the goal is to incentivize existing geothermal plants and would potentially provide additional local employment opportunities.
