Time is running out to see if San Diego County owes you part of $352,000 in unclaimed monies. Only 54 people have filed claims for 1,158 refunds. How much money could you get? Go online before Sept. 12 to find out!

On July 14, San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister asked for the recipients of $372,244 to come forward, and so far, only $19,952 has been claimed.

“If your name’s on the list, the payouts could range from $10 to $13,000! I’m disappointed we cannot give this money away,” said San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister. “Share this with your friends, family and neighbors, in person and on social media. We want every penny claimed.”

On the TTC’s website, you’ll find information on how to file a refund claim, or you can call (877) 829-4732 for assistance. There is no charge for this service.

Every year, McAllister’s office tries to reunite San Diegans with money they have overpaid on property taxes or county fees. In the past five years, the TTC has refunded more than $330,000.

Current state law says countywide monies unclaimed for three years and property tax refunds unclaimed for four years must be turned over to the County’s General Fund – a process called escheatment.

The people on the unclaimed monies list have until Sept. 12, 2016, to file a refund claim before it is escheated. The lowest amount available is $10.01, and the highest amount is $13,416.44, owed to a blood relative of Ted Stricklin.
