Borrego Springs - Board of Directors Meeting

Borrego Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau met for their monthly meeting today, Sept. 20, at 8 a.m.

President Patrick Sampson acknowledged in his report, that it is indeed raining outside. He also reported that La Casa del Zorro has seen visitor numbers increase this summer and for the first time, there were no lay offs.

Damien Gallardo was recognized for his work on the board. He has resigned his position to take on a new challenge in Indian Wells. The board thanked him for his time and wished him luck.

The Sponsor Group and the Water Coalition will be holding their next meeting on Oct. 6.

Linda Haddock announced that the Calendar and the Village Guide will be available before Borrego Days.

Jim Wilson as congratulated on being nominated Parks Champion, "It's very exciting that a small population stood up and raised their hand," said Haddock, "it's the first win for the county of San Diego."


Last weekend saw the Boys and Girls Club of San Diego hold their event. Linda Haddock was present and was pleased to report that approximately 800 people were in attendance with $600k currently raised and the figure is still rising.

Borrego Springs Resort will be holding the Golf Classic in February. Last year saw 85 golfers attend and $60k raised. The course has been rejuvenated and is looking to become a permanent venue.
