West Shores - Ready, Set, Go!

Pick up nine 10-pound bags of potatoes, somehow strap them to your body and walk up and down the bleachers in a distance equivalent to 110 floors. How did you do?

Personally, I couldn't make it past strapping on bag #3. Now, imagine this: West Shores Fire Fighters will be participating in the annual Stair Climb to commemorate NYFD Fallen Fire Fighters who lost their lives in the World Trade Centers on 9/11. Although several of the participants will be dressed in regulation fire fighter uniforms, in case there is an emergency to which they need to respond, most of our fire fighters will be dressed in full gear (90 pounds!) as they trek the bleachers at West Shores High School in that distance, one equivalent to 110 flights of stairs.

Symbolically, this signifies the completion of the NYFD mission that fateful day; it also serves to remind everyone that we will not forget. West Shores Lions will provide protein snacks and sports drinks for actual participants. We're also donating to our local Fire Departments to help with escalating costs. We urge you to join us.

For info on donations or to participate please contact Interim Chief Mark Murray through the District Office a 760/394-4446.
