BSUSD Announce Change to Free Meals
Last updated 8/16/2016 at 8:12am
Borrego Springs Unified School District has announced an amendment to its policy for serving meals for children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for 2016-2017 school year, which would allow for all children at all schools/sites to be served meals at no charge.
The BSUSD is entering into its second cycle of Provision 2, a program whereby all students receive all meals at no charge. Provision 2 cycles last four years and at that point the District decides whether to request an extension or re-establish the Base Year (a year in which meal applications are collected in order to determine the number of students who qualify for free or reduced-priced meals); BSUSD chose to do the latter. While families will notice a form in the school registration packet requesting household income information, this form is for other District purposes and does not affect students continuing to receive meals at no charge.
