Borrego Springs - Homicide - Arrest Made

Brett Leslie Boynton, was found dead Saturday morning at his Verbena Drive home.
Mark Peter Waugh, 53, has been arrested for bludgeoning and possibly strangling Boynton to death.
Waugh was originally detained Saturday morning as a person of interest he has since been arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of one count of murder, according to sheriff's detectives.
Waugh will be held at the Vista jail until his arraignment in Superior Court scheduled for later this week.
Sat. Aug. 27 - Although the victims name has yet to be officially released, local sources have told the Sun, the deceased is Brett Boynton, a kitchen worker at Carlees.
"He was believed to be about 50 years old," according to Sheriff’s Homicide Lt. Kenneth Nelson.
Verbena Drive, Borrego Springs has been a frenzy of activity today (Sat. Aug. 27) as emergency services have been in attendance following a man being found dead under suspicious circumstances. According to deputies, the man had suffered "obvious signs of trauma," and homicide detectives were called to take over the investigation.
The victim was found lying unresponsive on the floor of 430 Verbena Drive, just after 7:45 a.m. following a phone call to deputies from the SDSO's Borrego Springs office receiving a report of a possibly dead man inside the residence. Emergency personnel found the victim with wounds to his upper torso.
A suspect in connection with the man's death has been arrested, according to SDSO, however further details are yet to be released.
