Local police and emergency medical services responded to a 911 call on Friday in El Centro. The emergency call came from six people, believed to be migrants, who were trapped in a locked railroad boxcar.

With temperatures around 108 degrees, the men soon found themselves in trouble. Hidden inside the boxcar was an ice chest and a portable cooler, but a call to 911 was made when the cooler stopped working and they ran out of water.

Five of the six men were Mexican citizens, and one was a U.S. citizen, according to Border Patrol. They all needed medical treatment for dehydration symptoms.

Border Patrol agents state that they have arrested the man suspected of smuggling them into the U.S. The U.S. citizen is now facing prosecution for alien smuggling, according to Border Patrol.
