BASIC has launched their newest initiative - The Second and Third Grade Summer Reading Academy.

In order to boost the reading abilities of students in the Borrego Springs school district, BASIC are sponsoring a Summer Reading Academy. Held at the UC Irvine Research Center in Borrego, 20 students have taken advantage of what will hopefully, be an annual event.

In 2015 BASIC sponsored the Dolly Parton Imagination Library - bringing age-appropriate books to children under the age of 5 and supports in-the-classroom math aide for the middle school.

Funds raised to help improve and inspire the lives of local children, come from the March 'Annual Circle of Art show and sale', Community Enhancement grants from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, Individual donations, and the Sale of Circle of Art posters in local stores and at the Annual Circle of Art Show.

The charitable 501(c)3 organization relies on a network of dedicated volunteers who are committed to empowering youth and adults in the Borrego Springs community.
