Summer Lunches

Do you like serenity ... silence ... scenery ... service? Then go have lunch in the bar at The Arches.

My friend and I went on a very hot day and it was a delight. They even drove us in from the parking lot – be kind to old ladies. Ramon makes a truly special icy cold martini. Dear Diana has moved over there from Carmelita’s and takes good care of her guests.

The view from the windows overlooking the golf course is so peaceful and pleasant. Water, birds, and a coyote trotting by on the green, green grass. A perfect club sandwich with avocado, bacon, tomato and turkey. This is a place to count our Borrego blessings. Now if what you really care about is wonderful food and a very different ambiance, go to Carlee’s.

Without question, the best hamburger and best, best French fries in town. Tried something new last time. Stuffed mushrooms.

Good sized mushrooms stuffed with Italian sausage and pesto, sauteed in balsamic vinaigrette and served with grilled flatbread to sop up the sauce. Different, and delicious. And of course, while he’s still here, Tony makes me a wonderful martini. My friend had the special Wednesday lunch – a steak sandwich with all the trimmings. It really looked wonderful and half went home. We are lucky!
