Borrego Springs - Record Temps
Last updated 7/1/2016 at 6:30am
Despite a string of unfortunate events, Borrego Springs may be entering the history books.
June 20 saw the temperature gauge hit 122f, the hottest place in San Diego County.
According to the National Weather Service, the high matched the all-time high for anywhere in the county, for any day of the year. The last time the record was matched, was June 25, 1990.
But at this stage, the record has not yet been confirmed. A lack of Rangers to check the temperature gauges at Anza-Borrego State Park and a second gauge suffered a malfunction causing it to stop transmitting data at 12:30 p.m, which means that the weather service are still finalising checks.
Ocotillo Wells recorded 122f, whilst some Borrego residents and the Anza-Borrego Desert Natural History Association office, reported temperatures up to 128f.
Although the record is yet to be confirmed, the official temperature recorded by the weather service for June 20, will be 122f.
