Juan Bautista de Anza Charter School Commencement ceremonies were a heartfelt celebration for six graduating seniors and six (four present) middle schoolers advancing to high school level.
The scene was set at La Casa del Zorro with balloons, cake, photographers, educators and family gathered for the program on Saturday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m.
Founder, Doctor Sandra Thorpe announced this as the eighth annual graduation ceremonies for the school and proudly led the processional of students to the forefront, where they stood before their adoring audience.
An a cappella rendition of 'Over the Rainbow' was sweetly sung by graduating senior Jona Fontenette, a touching talk was given by Valedictorian Marcelo Garcia, encouraging words came from staff and board members, and traditional thank you cards for the students were distributed by Barbara Coates.
Tassels were turned from right to left and the celebration and tears followed.
