Now that things have calmed down -- no further aftershocks and official magnitude number holding at 5.2, here's an updated blurb for the website:

A moderate earthquake of M5.2 (as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey) struck on the Anza/Clark Lake segments of the San Jacinto Fault Zone 13 miles north of Borrego Springs just after 1:00 a.m. on Friday, rattling homes and jarring nerves for nearly 30 seconds, but causing no electrical outages or infrastructure disruptions. Six aftershocks in the M3.5 down to M2.7 followed in the next 30 minutes. For those who read the last article in my earthquake series, I trust everyone stayed in their beds as advised and rode it out. Keep in mind the range of severe earthquakes discussed in the series, and that Borregans should worry about, was M6-5 to M7.5, about 50 to 1000 times as powerful as the Friday morning shaker, respectively
