Porsche Club of America (PCA), San Diego Region, brought 75 Porsches to Borrego Springs on June 5, all ranging from 1960 to 2016. When asked why they chose Borrego, Mr. Verlaque stated that "I came down here about a month or so ago to plan the route and saw that the Borrego Art Institute is opening a restaurant named Kesling's and had it in the back of my mind. When I got home and researched it more, I saw that it had opened. I thought the atmosphere would fit in great with the Porsche club of San Diego."
Kesling's was excited to host the club and all its members out here today and was fully stocked and staffed for the occasion. Tom Hildebrandt, Kesling's head chef, stated that "It's great that they are here and we welcome them anytime."
PCA offers its 3,000 members unique driving opportunities including a scenic drive four times a year through all the back country and mountain areas. Undoubtedly one of the best driving experiences you can have in a Porsche. Organizer Keith Verlaque stated that driving some great backroads, like the Montezuma grade, is the reason why members have a Porsche. "I was looking for some windy roads, and found Montezuma to be one of the best."
The next time you might see 75 Porsches in Borrego Springs will be in the fall.
