Graduating middle-schoolers from Borrego Springs, Julian, and Vallecito enjoyed their annual SwimFest at Borrego High School, with swimming, springboard diving, volleyball, and sunbathing all making for a good time.
Thrown into the mix was a 1-lap speed challenge by Borrego Sun staff reporter/photographer and former high school swim team champion, Michael Sadler.
"I'm 50 years older than any of you, with one foot in the grave!" I told the kids, hoping they would take up the challenge of racing against a senior citizen. Some did. Holding my breath the entire 25-yard length, I beat Delaney Barcley, but not by much, and was out-touched by Dusty Flack in a photo finish. As promised, Delaney and Dusty get their pictures in the paper and on our website.
