Borrego Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau met for their monthly meeting on April 19, at 8 a.m.

Mike Harrison attended the meeting on behalf of Congressman Duncan D. Hunter; representing the congressman here in Borrego Springs. Congressman Hunter wanted to make sure that Borregans are having their voice heard.

Mr. Harrison made himself available to answer any question and relay any messages back to the Congressman. Members of the board asked for an updated time table for the floodplain study that the Army Corps of Engineers where going to conduct. Mr. Harrison explained that the study had been halted two times in the past due to a change in leadership on the Army Corp of Engineers, but he will look into the progress of the study and get back to the chamber.

Executive Director Linda Haddock announced that the Chamber of Commerce has voted to oppose the Property Specific Request Desert Subregion 24 (DS-24); AKA Rudyville. The chamber is supportive of growth in Borrego Springs, but believe that the approval of this request would have a negative economic impact. (See attached chamber letter.)

Borrego Days planning meetings, through the month of July, will be held Mondays at 4 p.m. on May 23, June 20 and July 18. Please join the chamber at these meetings as they are looking for volunteers for the event.

The Sundowner at The Mall, cohosted by Umpqua Bank and the Desert Pantry was a success, with music from Izon Eden and food from Kendall's. The next Sundowner will be held poolside at La Casa del Zorro on May 20. Izon Eden will provide music at this event as well.
