Liars' 100th Anniversary of Tales

Saturday, April 2 found the annual gathering of some of the world's greatest liars; gathering to spin their tales of the legendary Peg Leg Smith and his lost gold mine. Politicians are the only people that are excluded from this event that I know of.

This year's event was sponsored by the Old Borego Pioneer Society. There were hats and T-shirts available for the discriminating audience and storytellers. This year's emcee was none other than the renowned author and story teller, Phil Bragandi. There were several other notorious individuals that helped out too. These people, and more on the various tales, will be exposed at a later date. Whether their bribery checks clear the bank or not may effect the flavor of the exposure.

The judges consisted of three, bought and paid for, individuals that show up around this time every year. All winners were given recycled trophies that were acquired under circumstances that were a little sketchy at press time.

There were ten-or-so contestants including a woman and a child (a new category that had to evolve). As there was only one child that spun a tale, he was awarded both a first and second place trophy for his category. This event started at sundown and ran into the evening, or whenever the fist fights stop.

If you haven't been to this event you need to check it out next year! If you are, or are known to be a good liar, you might consider spinning a tale of your own. If you are so much of a lair that you have to hire someone else to call your dog, you might have to set this next one out.
