The De Anza Classic, a Golden State Tour professional golf event, ended Thursday with a 4-stroke victory by Temecula's John Chin over Borrego Springs' favorite son (and de Anza employee) Damian Telles.
Both players were tied at 6-under par after Day-1 at De Anza Country Club, and both had 5 bogeys over the 3-round tournament. It all came
down to birdies: Chin had 18 and Telles had 14. Telles had one more than Chin in Round-3 but would have needed four more birdies to catch Chin.
Chin won the first prize $9,000 money in a field of over 100 players, presented by De Anza Country Club General Manager Damien Gallardo. See my full report in the March 24 print edition.
